Effection of Foaming Nucleating Agent

At present, the Foaming Nucleating Agent has become one of the most active and commonly used effective methods to make polypropylene high-performance because of its unique advantages such as many kinds, low technical difficulty, good flexibility and easy operation.

Different nucleating agents have different modification effects. Some nucleating agents, such as the third generation Sorbitol Nucleating Agent WBQ, can improve the transparency of polypropylene; some nucleating agents, such as wna-108, can improve the mechanical properties, such as hardness of polypropylene, while some nucleating agents can improve the heat resistance of polypropylene.

On the other hand, different nucleating agents have common functions. These common functions are as follows:

  1. Nucleating agent can change the crystallization characteristics of polypropylene, thus affecting its physical and mechanical properties. For semi crystalline polymers, the crystallization behavior and crystal structure directly affect the processing and application properties of the products. The addition of a small amount of nucleating agent in polymer materials can accelerate the crystallization process, increase the nucleation density, make the grain fine and uniform distribution, and have little effect on the chemical structure and other properties of the materials.
  2. The increase of crystallization speed shortens the cycle time of mould, improves the production efficiency and reduces the forming shrinkage of products.

Polypropylene (PP) is a nontoxic, odorless and tasteless milky white high crystalline polymer, which is one of the lightest plastics at present. It is very stable for water and its water absorption is only 0.01%. At the same time, it has good heat resistance. The product can be sterilized at a temperature above 100 ℃, and it will not deform at 150 ℃ without external force. But if you want to use it at a higher temperature, and it is inevitable to be interfered by external forces, warpage and other problems will occur. At this time, it is necessary to carry out heat-resistant stiffening modification.

The addition of nucleating agent to PP is one of the effective methods to improve its rigidity and heat resistance. Adding a small amount of nucleating agent to PP can significantly improve the crystallization speed, crystallization rate and crystallization fineness of PP, so as to realize the rigidity and heat resistance modification of PP.
